For several years the ‘Friends of Chivuna’ group has been sending out to Zambia baby and toddler clothes, toys and activities for the little ones.
Lots of people have become involved, and about twenty ladies have spent many hours knitting beautiful cardigans, jumpers and hats; also, hundreds of knitted squares to sew together to make blankets.
New-born babies are at risk when the temperature drops at night, and there is often a risk of frost overnight in June / July. So these knitted items can really be lifesavers.
Extreme gratitude is owed to all the people who have contributed in any way and if anyone feels they could help with knitting then wool, patterns, needles etc can be provided.
The following pictures illustrate some of the items made for and donated to Chivuna.
